Klebsiella pneumoniae Infections
My husband has a neobladder, and gets frequent UTIs, all with the Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria. He has had seven of these infections over the past year. Treatment is with Ertapenem, an antibiotic which is only available via IV. It’s believed that there’s a nugget of Klebsiella pneumoniae in his neobladder which the antibiotic is not effectively reaching. Has anyone else had this experience? Was there a resolution? Thank you!
