I'm worried I might have Kidney Cancer
I lost my Mother to Renal Cell Carcinoma in 2012. Over the past 6 months I have developed a worsening "ache" and a sense of heaviness in my right side/posterior. My MD has ordered an Abd. and Renal Ultrasounds. I am chronically nauseous but have not had weight loss. I also gave frequent episodes of feeling clammy and fatigued. Any suggestions?

My blood work is within normal limits (BUN, Creat. And Egfr.) Still, other symptoms are quite unsettling.
@momsanurse, it sounds like you're afraid that the symptoms you are experiencing may be renal cancer. It's understandable that your mind would race there having lost your mom to kidney cancer. Keep in mind that the symptoms you're experiencing may indicate any number of issues. It's clear that they require further investigation and your physician is doing that.
As you continue to investigate the cause with your doctor, I might suggest keeping a diary of your symptoms, take note of which ones you're having when, how severe they are and the time of day and/or what activity you were doing or what you ate. This information may prove to be helpful.
Have you already had blood work done? When will you have the ultrasound appointment?
Thank you for responding! My BUN, Creatinine and Egfr are all normal as of 2 months ago. My Ultrasound appts are at the end of this month. I have kept notes regarding this "ache" and "fullness/heaviness." I kept a daily diary with my Mother. The first day I wrote, "Mama is complaining of a persistent achiness in her right side/back area." She NEVER complained about anything. I am unable to sleep on my right side because the ache awakens me. When I turn onto my left side, I sense a fullness/heaviness pulling on my right side.
I have had same for weeks
My heart is with you on the loss of your mother. I am sorry you are experiencing these symptoms. I understand why you might be concerned. @colleenyoung has some really good and sound advice . I would be sure your doctor knows what type of renal cell cancer your mother had. Just so he has the history.
Take some deep breaths throughout the day, try to focus on positive things, eat well and sleep as well as you can. Praying for you
