Ketamine - Post-Op Pain Management
I am getting a left anatomic TSR in August. I currently take Suboxone, and so opiates of any kind have no impact on pain.
I expect I will have some meaningful post-op pain. I was given ketamine once in the ER when I dislocated my hip (after 300 mcgs of fentanyl did nothing). The ketamine worked very well, but only for about 30 minutes.
Is there any form of ketamine available to manage post-op pain? As far as I know, ketamine can only be given with a physician or PA/NP present. So I'm just wondering if there is a compound form of ketamine that can be used by an individual to manage post-op pain.
Thanks all!
Joe
