Keep encouraged, tapering second time is working
My husband (now 80) diagnosed with PMR 2020; went on prednisone; tapered down, but in 2023 it came back. Dr. retired. We found a new Dr in June 2024 who is very slowly tapering down (started at only 10 and decreases 1 mg per month) and doing blood work to check inflamation. We are down to 2 mg with only the slightest arm "pain". We will be decreasing to 1 mg very soon. He is also taking extra-virgin olive oil (they say for inflamation- trying it).
We read these support group conversations with all of you in prayer along with my husband. Please Keep Encouraged.

Great to hear your husband is doing better @joycj. It really helps to have a special encourager on your PMR team. I thought you might be interested in another discussion started by @dadcue that has some really good reference links.

I have always used extra vergin organic olive oil from Italy. Unfortunately I have PMR. However, I started at 16mg Methylprednisolone for 30 days and then 1.5 weeks ago went down to 12mg. So far I am doing well with no PMR symptoms at all. Maybe my olive oil is helping.
