Just needed some people to talk too, it's been almost 3 yrs

Posted by smac @smac, 4 days ago

about a year and half ago I was diagnosed Membranous Nephropathy, before this the doctors knew I had a Kidney issue but didn't know what it was, they were just trying different meds until I switch doctors and he did a biopsy. I remember him saying after the biopsy came back that I Had Been Dealt a Bad Hand, if there is any insight on this that would be great but I think I'm just reaching out because days are getting tougher, I try to be happy but most days I'm not before I just don't feel good and people not going thru this don't understand..

Hi Smac,
What an awful situation you are in! I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. And you are right. People who aren't going through this don't understand. I know I don't but I feel bad that you are not feeling good much of the time. Have you tried drinking a lot of water? Often that helps everything in our bodies. Plus eating well and on a schedule. Your body is fighting this and it needs all the help it can get.

Prayer also helps. Just ask God to heal you and help you get though this. He will be there for you. I've had a very rough year because my husband died last year. I wasn't in pain like you but I was all of a sudden, alone in the world. I'm 79 and family and friends have all died. It was very scary for me to have to handle life in general and all the things that includes. My heating system went out, the refrigerator broke and had to be replaced etc. Also I didn't have that much money. I prayed a lot and my prayers have been answered. I have a new heating system and a new refrigerator and still have quite a bit of money leftover for the next disaster that I will also pray about. Talk to God like he's your best friend and he is! I will say a prayer for you also.
I wish you the best.

smac @smac welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You have come to the right place. There are lots of members in the group with various kidney & bladder situations who are here to talk, share stories, offer hope and encouragement. There is another Mayo Clinic Connect group specifically called Just Want To Talk. You are not alone.
I have Chronic Kidney Disease due to 50 years of diabetes. I don’t know much about Membranous Nephropathy. Perhaps other members that have experience with this condition will join the discussion soon. You said your previous Dr. tried different meds until you switched Drs and got a biopsy. Are you comfortable with your new Dr. and do you have a new treatment plan? Would you mind telling about it?
I too like @pml am a person of Christian faith. I believe in prayer and that God always answers prayer. But I think His answers may be yes, no, not now, wait…..I have something better in mind than what you are asking…..etc. That is why God is God and I am not. I also believe that God gives medical providers, medications, treatments etc. to accomplish His perfect plans for my medical situations even though I may not understand what that is.
My hope and prayer for you is to receive the best care possible for your condition and to feel an increased sense of wellbeing. Will you keep us posted on how you are coming along?

Are you a candidate for a kidney transplant? A tad nosy, but just had to ask!

Hi Smac,
You are very welcome! I'm so glad you are drinking more water and eating better. That makes such a difference; even if you are healthy and have no physical problems. I'm glad you like your current doctor. Look up the side effects of Rituximab so you are aware of some of the things that may be going on with your body. I look up side effects of everything I take whether it's prescribed or just over the counter.

I'm so glad you pray everyday! That makes such a difference and it does state in the Bible to ask and it will be given to you. (I'm not exactly sure what the exact quote is but I know it's there.) It is hard when God's time isn't ours but he will be there for you. I've told him to hurry up also!

I'll continue to pray for you.
