Just finished the Metacure Trial

Posted by aldenrobert @aldenrobert, Sep 4, 2023

One week ago today I finish up with the 6 month Metacure trial. It was for men with aggressive Prostate cancer that had metastasis to only one distant location. My cancer had progressed to a lymph node in my chest. Seven months ago my oncologist told me that my cancer had progressed to Stage 4 incurable prostate cancer. But he referred me for the clinical trial which had very narrow guideline for who would be eligible to participate. Lucky for me I was chosen to be one of 105 men in the US to be a part of the trial. Before beginning the trial my PSA was 13.6 (and that was after having RRP and 34 rounds of salvage radiation ). For the triak I was put on two drugs Orgovyx and Erleada taken orally daily. Within 28 days my PSA was undetectable. Three months in I had 5 rounds of radiation to the lymph node in my chest. The entire time I took the drugs daily. There were side effects but most were tolerable. Last Monday was the last day on the trial. At this point all known cancer has disappeared and my PSA is still undetectable. I have been taken off of both drugs. I am now only on active surveillance. I am one happy man!
