Just a hi: Caregiver to my spouse and 2 young children

Posted by Laryssa @laryssamarquardt, May 26, 2023

Hi my name is Laryssa and I am a caregiver to my spouse and two children, 5yo and 2yo. All three have relatively low support needs, but I am still their medical manager and the kids are still kids who need someone to take care of them.

We recently moved to Rochester because Mayo was a great spot for my youngest. Shortly after moving my husband got diagnosed with his disability and Mayo ended up being invaluable for him as well. So it worked out better than we thought.

After getting us all settled I was finally able to put the work in getting myself scheduled for a wellness check. It's easier said than done but never forget you own health.

All this to say I'm here to chitchat if anyone wants to. This is often a lonely road.

Laryssa, (Love your name!), Caregiving can be a lonely road. You have got a plate full. I am praying for you as I have been down the same road you are going down, only it was my mom I was caring for and my own family. Try and rest when you can and do take care of yourself. I care. God bless you!

Laryssa take one day at a time and gratitude for everything. It’s not easy to do sometimes I’m sure you know. You are blessed to have 2 children. Hang in there. God bless

Hi Laryssa - I realize you made this post over a year ago - but curious if the invitation to connect still stands. I am a well-spouse of a disabled husband (as of about 2 years ago). We have a 3 old and a 6 year old together. I agree it can get lonely and would love to connect with someone that truly knows the weight.
Warmly,
Tory
