JAK2 negative test results
JAK2 test performed due to high hematocrit and hemoglobin. With negative results, what questions should I pose to my hematologist? He has not yet commented on the test results.

Waiting for test results is really hard.
I hope you will soon get helpful information about what's going on.
I have had elevated RBC, WBC, Hemocrit and Hemaglobin for almost three years but am negative for JAK2, as you are. I was going in every three months but now go in every six months for an CBC and remain stable, though still elevated.
Polycemia Vera was suspected at first, but 95% of PV patients have this gene. It would be extremely rare to get PV without the gene. My hematologist says that these values may be elevated due to stress, obesity, inflammation or allergies. He or she may recommend a sleep study as sleep apnea can cause elevated RBC. I don’t have that either!!! Hopefully, we both can stay stable in the future!!!
I do not have the gene but after 7 tears I have to have regular phylobotomies, every 4 to 5 weeks. My main problem is low iron. It causes a lot of side effects including fatigue. Taking iron results in higher haemoglobin.
It is a balancing act. Good luck.
