So sorry to hear. Could you be more specific about the state of Indiana no longer writing scripts.

I've been to as well as called Drs 12 12 counties plus to try to find a Dr , every Dr I've called or been to refuses to write the perception I need ( XANEX) I've tried psychologist,, and psychiatric Drs went to classes , appointments done everything I was told to do by my primary Dr here in Indiana and I still can't get them , it's not like I do drugs ,I don't sell them I don't ever ask for anything else & I have severe osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative discs , and more my only concern is how will I get my next prescription, when my primary care Dr said to go to these places and if they don't help he'd see what he could do ( mind you I have Dr records from at least 35 years proving I am on this med ) so when nothing else worked I went back to primary,he said he didn't feel comfortable writing it so see I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place and don't know what to do ,I'm tired ,and driving 14 hrs 1 way every 3 months is getting hard :(((

I’m thinking it’s more likely that the doctors are just not willing to write your Xanax script rather than a state ban. Doctors in every state are no longer writing benzo prescriptions and are shifting their new and old patients to antidepressants and anti psychotics. Benzos are going away just like opioids and it really doesn’t matter how long or how responsible one has been with their prescription.

It's more of the dosage I'm currently on 2mg 3xs @day, and no it's actually the perception,I've been told they don't like to write for that particular med due to the strong addiction that comes with it ,which I already have ,like I said they put me on it at age 15 I'm now 54 , I feel I'm being denied my medication due to all the drug problems going on and I've only been living in the area for a year , although my blood work has come back what it should ( is what they say ) my next step is to write a letter to our congressman and or governor of Indiana and see what happens there . I feel this state put me on it and I've been on all these years, this state should continue to keep me on it , I was told I could sue the makers of this drug ,but that won't get me the med I need and as far as changing meds ,it can't happen that fast , I've been told by so many different Drs they have never heard of anyone being on XANEX for this long and at this high of a dose :((( ( my phone may not be displaying my words as written, apologies in advance.

You have to keep in mind that the state didn’t put you on Xanax, the doctors did. Also the DEA is a federal agency not a state agency. The state of Indiana has nothing to do with your prescriptions. Your doctors are the only ones responsible for your medications. As I said doctors are yanking prescriptions in all states. Yes you are on an extreme amount of Xanax. Good luck and God bless.

Wouldn't you think yanking this medicine from someone who's been on it what 39 years is a bit harsh and regardless of them taking it away and not writing it anymore what about others out there like me ( if they exist,I'm sure they do ) you can't come of it like that , the Drs I've seen including my primary, and a few others including treatment centers I've called and spoke with says I can die trying to get off this ,so with that being said it scare the craziness right outta me , I'm only 54 , 3 son's and 10 beautiful grandchildren and I'd like to stick around awhile to watch them grow up so more ,so if it's up to the Drs which I knew that to begin with, then see I have no choice but to sue the makers of the company or something, something has to give ,ya can't put a person on this medication and then abruptly stop writing perceptions for it , that's considered murder in my eyes . Thank you for the well wishes

It’s CRUCIAL that a some point you find a doctor that will not discontinue your prescription and do a very, very long proper taper. As a former 25 year Xanax user I will stick my neck out here and say it will take many years for you to get completely off this drug. You need to start looking for someone now in my opinion. Please go listen to ALL of Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring’s benzo videos on YouTube. He used to work for the FDA, he’s a physchiatrist and an unaddiction specialist. He explains things perfectly. Please listen to this doctor. It will take quite some time to listen to all his videos. Please message me if you would like to discuss anything else.

I didn’t go anywhere for treatment. After an exhaustive search I found a physchiatrist in a neighboring state that I worked with and still do.

What medical condition are you taking Xanax to control?
Just because a physician gives you a prescription doesn't mean you have to accept it, have it filled, or take it. You chose to continue to get it refilled. Perhaps your doctor was negligent in approving those refills for so long, perhaps he wasn't. Instead of blaming everyone else, you need to accept some of the responsibility.
Benzodiazepines were never intended for long-term use. Does your doctor understand the potential complications of discontinuing this medicine so quickly?
Good luck,
Jake
