Itching: for several months. Trying Nemluvio.

Posted by nm80 @nm80, 2 days ago

….Today a new dermatologist said it sounds like Prurigo Nodularis. The drug for this that tops the list is Nemluvio . This feels right and we began with the loading dosage today. Painless and needs a monthly injection. Basically this drug has little known downsides and blocks the itching sensation from the brain. Will try for four months if the insurance company approves. (It is of course very expensive). Otherwise Dr. said they will save samples and do the monthly one for me, which is beyond kind. I will report back. Anyone who has had severe itching that did not respond to all the usual creams and cortisone shots knows how frustrating it can be and how it disturbs sleep sometimes for weeks on end. But today I am feeling very hopeful. And four months should relieve it (1x/mo.).
Anyone else used this drug?

I googled this medication. It looks to be Shot. Every time I went into the website, they wanted me to download their cookies which I would not do this as I feel Would track me. I was trying to find out the company to look for the material safety data sheet or the MSDS. I could not find it
I have been having hives for over eight months and I just figured out it was because of my calcium citrate. I am highly sensitive to grain alcohol and one of the ingredients is a form of grain alcohol. For about two weeks now I have been off it. My hives are slowly getting better, but I’m still itching like crazy.
I wish you the best.

The website with info on the medication I am taking is biologicmeds.org. I do not see any requests for cookie tracking when I log on. It might be worth discussing with a dermatologist in your case. I met with several different dermatologists before yesterday when a new one actually gave a diagnosis and proscribed Nemluvio, IT STOPPED MY ITCHING and that is everything. Yes, it is an injection and it is virtually painless. Believe me, I know how maddening having 24/7 itching is. And unfortunately the more one scratches, the worse it gets. Quite the dilemma. I hope you find a solution and SOON.

NM80 and Minnesota10,
I'm so sorry you are both having such terrible itching problems! I hope you get the medications you need that you mentioned. One natural thing that may help a little bit with itching is drinking a lot of water. It will help your skin from being too dry. Plus it may also flush out your system of any impurities.
I wish you both the best!

@pml Thank you. I daily drink 20 ounces of water mixed with electrolytes and agree that hydration is crucial! (Also one cup of tea in the a.m. and water throughout the day).

In February of 2025, I suddenly developed a skin condition with itching and rash on both my arms, and itching with micro-pimples on other parts of my body. This all got worse in May. Was prescribed a topical corticosteroid which was helpful but the rashes still kept coming back on a regular basis. In August, a friend introduced me to the Budwig Protocol - 2 Tbsp of organic cold pressed flax seed oil emulsified in a cultured dairy. The BP uses a cottage cheese, but I used kefir and yogurt. I made a smoothy with some fruit and did this twice a day. I noticed positive results in just 1 week and definitely after 2 weeks. The itching and rashes stopped. If I stop taking the flax oil, the itching starts again but can be more easily controlled without the use of potent steroids which I was able to stop by end of August. All I need to use every now and then is an OTC hydrocortisone on small areas if they itch. You might try this for your itchy skin conditions.

@meingan Thank you for sharing and I am so glad that you have found a method to soothe your itching, even though it sounds like it requires frequent repetition, mis that right?
Today is my third day since the injection and my itching is reduced 95%. Hoping for the best in the long term.
