Itch with no apparent reason.

My husband keeps showing me a itchy spot on the back of his right shoulder. All I see is a very small red dot of a place but it is driving him crazy--me too. For him to even say anything means it is concerning. Sure hope someone has an idea what it could be. Thanks.

I can relate, and would love to know the cause too. I itch all over, especially on my scalp, and especially on my scalp it feels like bugs crawling under my skin, but other is a spot on the back of my left shoulder that itches the most, and my husband can’t see a thing. No amount of lotion - I have tried all kinds - seems to relieve it.

Your comment that you feel like bugs under skin and on scalp brings me back to when I had that happen and my doctor said: When you abruptly quit meds or skip too many doses that would be a form of withdrawal. It was exactly what I did. Quit a med on my own. He stated now you know what a drug addic feels with withdrawal as well. Mine happened to be anti depression meds. I had to taper off.

@germangal I have not stopped/quit any medication.

The thought of an ingrown hair did occur to me but as far as I can see, I don’t have any ingrown hairs.

Gabapentin helps me with this tremendously. If I don't take it I feel like my whole body is vibrating and on fire at times. Have you spoken to your doctor about a possible nerve blocker medication?
Best of luck,
Kat

Thanks everyone for your post responses. Hopefully it won't require taking a daily medication, i.e.Gabapentin.
