Is Tymlos appropriate if no fractures?
My endocrinologist has prescribed Tymlos for me. But I’ve never had a fracture. Is this appropriate timing for Tymlos? Would it be better to save it for the future?
I’m 61, T score at spine is -3.3. TBS is normal. I’ve already done 5 years on bisphosphates (but stopped 4 years ago).
Has anyone else been prescribed Tymlos before getting a fracture?

Thanks so much.
@wondering1
How is decision making going for you? Where are you at?
I decided to wait before starting Tymlos, and got my endocrinologist to agree to wait a year to see if HRT does anything to help my bones.
In the meantime, I got a REMS bone scan that shows my osteoporosis (so is consistent with my DXAs), but shows my bone quality is quite good with relatively low fracture risk.
Feeling good about my decision to pause. Will reconsider Tymlos after I see what happens with my next DXA scan.
Thanks for asking, @mundy !
That is great news! Wishing you all the best with the HRT. Take care.
Sorry, I'm sure this is a dumb question...what's HRT?
Hormone replacement therapy. There are no dumb questions, only ones that haven't been answered yet.
Thank you 😊!
I'm on Tymos because of bone X-rays. No fractures for years but some in the past (mostly from doing something stupid).
I was prescribed Tymlos to prevent fractures . The only fracture I ever had was a hairline trauma fracture in my foot at age 22. No bone meds prior to this
@daisylou, have you been on it long? Any side effects? Any results yet? Thanks!
