Is this herpes? Please help

Posted by olivia_mia @olivia_mia, Mar 1, 2017

I got a Brazilian wax 10 days ago and then had oral and sex with a new partner two days later. This is the first person I have been with since my marriage of 15 years.

A few days ago I noticed white bumps on my vagina. I am prone to getting them after waxing but we had a lot of sex for about 5 hours.

I have no other herpes symptoms like fatigue or sickness. I got tested yesterday but the results will take a week.

Can anyone say if it looks like herpes? I just can't believe this and am devastated. They are not clusters, just single white ones. I have pictures.

Hello @olivia_mia, Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! Thank you for posting! I imagine your situation to be a very scary feeling. It's easy for me to say don't get worried until you have results from your physician- but in hindsight, this may be a skin irritation.

On Mayo Clinic Connect, our goal is to connect you with other members who are also here discussing similar situations. I would like to introduce you to member @tiffanym whom was also talking about a similar concern.

@olivia_mia, When you have had this waxing done in the past, did the irritated spots look the same as the irritated spots now?

Thank you for your reply. I actually went to another gynocologist today that was recommended. When she was getting samples from the bumps she asked me several times if I felt any pain which I didn't at all. She poked the bumps til they bled and still I didn't feel any discomfort. She said that she has never had a patient that had herpes not experience extreme pain. She also said my bumps were all above surface and since I do have a history of getting irritations and pimples after waxing she was cautiously optimistic and feeling pretty good that it isn't herpes. But my test will tell for sure. I am still taking the acyclovir but am feeling a tiny bit hopeful it will be negative...

To answer your question, I have had similar bumps before but just one or two but this was this first time I had sex post waxing and I haven't had intercourse let alone 5 hours of intercourse in forever :). I have 5 this time.
