@margesil

I had toxic levels of B6 with a number of symptoms, taking awhile to diagnose. I did not, however, have any skin issues. GI and PN dominated. It took about 7 months to get B6 back to normal. PN remains. From readings suggested from this group, I have a better understanding of how B6 finds its way to nerve cells, causing damage. I am trying to exercise more, hydrate more and take a multi without B6 to prevent it worsening, as numbers started to inch up again.

Even though your B6 is normal, your neuropathy could take years to resolve because you don't know how long you were toxic. My neurologist said may not ever resolve.
I'm still trying to find a multivitamin without B6. My doc said I should take a could B12. I am looking for one that is best absorbed and utilized by the body.

For decades I have taken supplements ( multi and OPC3 ) in an isotonic form, which is a powder I mix with water. I believe that it is most bioavailability when you drink vs swallow a pill that must be broken down. I have recently ( 2 days ago)started taking a multi pill that has NO B6 and much reduced other ingredients. It is one I found out via through this group- B6T SMART. It developed and manufactured by B6 Toxicity , LLC in Texas. I found it from website UnderstandingB6Toxicity.com
Using it is far too new for me to verify if cutting B6 from multi changes my blood levels.

I am just about to switch from ProCare Bariatric Multivitamin Without Iron (see first attached ingredient list) to NATURELO One Daily Multivitamin for Women 50+ (Iron Free), which at least keeps the B6 down to something closer to 100% RDA and uses a different form of B6 (see second ingredients list). Perhaps another option for people to consider.

If anyone has any experience with this product, I'd love to hear from you.

Although I've bookmarked the B6T product other people have mentioned, the fact that I've had a chunk of my digestive system carved out won't let me drop that low on other vitamins. (Supplementation after bariatric surgery is essential if you want to avoid some fairly bad consequences in the long run.)

I'm making the change specifically because, lo and behold, I started having neuropathy symptoms for the first time coincident with starting this new bariatric multi -- previously, I'd taken a normal multi plus selected additional, separate supplements. Neither I nor my PCP were aware of the possibility that the B6 might be a factor in the neuropathy this last summer when I first flagged my symptoms for him. My new neurologist thinks it's probably not causal (still working through the diagnostic process), but is likely to be a contributing factor. Intriguingly, when I dropped from one a day to one every other day on the bariatric multi in November, the neuropathy progression slowed substantially.

Just one person's experience, of course.

Get B6 blood test. Before you take any vitamin with B6. After we found my level was toxic my neurologist told me not to take any B6.

I did, indeed, get the blood test, and my neurologist just said to avoid a high level of B6, not to avoid B6 altogether.
