Is there anyone experiencing sharp abdominal cramps with Lanreotide?

Posted by Sol @solaviera, Sep 13 9:36am

Good morning,
I hope everyone is doing well. This morning I’m having extremely painful abdominal pain / cramps. I had my lanreotide injection last Wednesday and yes, I usually get the discomfort, some pain, tiredness etc, but nothing like what I’m experiencing today. There is even some pain radiation to my back as well. Is this normal ? Expected? I have been on the injection since April 2025.
Thank you all.
Hugs!

What you're describing sounds different from your usual reaction: extremely painful abdominal cramps with pain radiating into the back. I would contact your NET/oncology team today rather than assume this is a normal lanreotide reaction.

After 1 year of lanreotide, it had to be stopped because abd pain started and was so severe along with severe diarrhea. Being off helped a bit but now my flashing has started again.. can't have surgery for the tumor is too small. I have CUP. Its a tumor of unknown origin. I. Waiting to see what the next step is

@solaviera, checking in. Did you talk to your symptom management nurse about the abdominal pain? How are you doing?

Hi! I did. It seems there was an interaction between the lanreotide shot and the flu vaccine (I had it two days after the lanreotide) My team recommended in the future if I get any other vaccine to have it two weeks after getting my monthly shot. I appreciate you asking me how I’m doing. Thank you!
