Is there any hope is SI joint pain will improve?

Posted by audrey5449 @audrey5449, Dec 3, 2023

I am despondent that the SI joint pain is not going to improve. I have been doing physical therapy and had shots last week. My pain is still severe. Is there options other than shots that will help with the pain? I have not been able to lie in a bed for over two years because to stretch out on my back makes the pain unbearable. Not allowed inside because of kidney disease. I'm not sure if I should limit my activities or if I should push through the pain. Can someone please tell me what to expect and/or what I need to do to help myself.

@didamco

thank you for your comprehensive reply - very informative.
I am in Sydney Australia where this type of treatment is done by qualified physiotherapists.
I am going to enquire to see what is involved here.
Thanks again and take care

I'm glad that what I posted is helpful. That you have physiotherapists in Australia specifically trained in the use of MFR is amazingly good! I have found that whenever I've needed/wanted specific skills/knowledge in a medical professional, it consumes time, energy, and determination to not give up. It can be daunting and even discouraging, but pays off. I've learned how to navigate the system, and have no problem with dropping a doctor, etc., if he/she is not engaged in really listening and focused on what I need in order to obtain a better quality of life. I live with chronic pain, have done so for longer than anyone would believe.
My lower back pain is actually almost non-existent this morning! Didn't have to sit on the sofa with the heating pad upon awakening. I've learned to listen to and respect what my body is telling me and not push myself when in a state of unwellness. Today is a 😊 smiley face day for me! Feels so good not to have my back/hips/spine/arms firing with nerve pain. And I can walk today with less stiffens and a lesser feeling of what I call "cement legs/noodle thighs". The CRPS in the left leg is never gone, but I'm in a "good place" today. I am not going to overdo: the house needs vacuuming and dusting (I can write messages in places!) and there are two loads of laundry, but I am NOT going to tackle it all today. PACING myself is essential to not succumbing to a fatigued, painful state. And I've learned to NOT bend over to do certain tasks. Unfortunately, the vacuuming falls on me b/c my husband suffers terribly with both rheumatoid AND osteoarthritis in both hands. He used to do that task, and did an excellent deep vacuuming that made the carpeting and area rugs look like new. But he helps with folding the laundry (does a great job!) and getting it all upstairs, and helps quite a bit around the house for which I am grateful. Going to bake him a batch of double chocolate gluten free brownies today as a "just because" gift.
Hope you can enjoy a great weekend. 🌺. And best of luck in locating a physiotherapist that can help you.

MFR therapy will help you, I’m sure of it! There is a section on this site or Google it. It’s amazing for that. It might take a few sessions but it’s amazing!

Try the pain rehab clinic at Mayo. It does help if you apply it. I graduated from the program almost a full year ago. Since my issues have no cure and the injections in the SI joints as well as throughout my spine didn't really work and give lasting relief I don't even go to pain management doctor anymore. If I have issues that my normal doctors can't help, I always contact the doctor at the Mayo Pain Rehabilitation clinic, Dr Sletten.
