Is there a hospital or Dr in US who understand metal allergies in TKR?
I have posted before long story short I have had two TKR on my right knee 2 years ago. Revision 6 month later glue did not bond. 24/7 pain whole leg/ knee down to foot never get relief just some days worse than others if I have been on it for long periods. I have found I am allergic to nickel and chromium both in my implant. No Dr understand and will not take out. I need to find someone. I prayed Mayo would be my answer but still waiting to hear if they will see me. My husband asked if I had to loose my leg would I. Some days I do not know if I can go on. I was an active 55 year who loved to bike and walk miles and very optimistic person. I can not even think about biking I will walk but not far.
Any recommendations or help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

In my town in Florida we have an allergy specialist who test for all things that go into surgery before you have it. Because of my allergies and reaction to cheap earrings, my doctor had me be tested for allergies medically. It turned out that I had allergies to all medical glues, which are commonly used here. I would probably get that type of testing done and then you would be taken more seriously the glues that have. metharylate In their name, I reacted very strongly to. You might want to get a procedure patch testing done. With that in hand, I think you might get more action. Best of luck it sounds just awful.
Here is a copy of my allergy test, and as you can see, it has the metals as well as the glues in it
I was sent to an allergy center in Sarasota to test for metal allergies before my hip replacement. They told me they had seen horror stories with metal allergies and the implants. I saved the paperwork so I would remember the name of the place and what my allergies were I had a violent reaction to the methyl compounds that they make surgical glues out of. I was just wondering if they perhaps know of someone that will treat your issue with seriousness because it is really serious. They told me they saw awful things from allergy and it has to all be redone. I’ll try to look up the name of the place now. I would check to see if they used any Acrylate glues (You can see from the name) They told me that that could be a source of huge problems as well
I’m pretty sure the name of the allergy place was allergy affiliates in Bradenton. I understand that Chrome can be a real allergen. I think nickel too if you Google metal allergies, you can read more information as well. But I think they told me they have to remove metal that gets a reaction. I’m nervous because occasionally people can even be allergic to titanium, but so far so good. … Good luck to you and I think if you can get some definite answers on your allergies, you will have something to work with!
Just sending you the copies of my patch test, which is what I think you need to clear this up. Good luck to you
Adding a copy of my metals test that was done in Bradenton. These patch tests are really easy to take, and I think could clear things up for you. Good luck!
