Is there a connection between blood flow and peripheral neuropathy

Does anyone know if there's a connection between blocked arteries and peripheral neuropathy? I have peripheral neuropathy, my cardiologist told me one of my 3 main leg ateries is 100% blocked and sent me to a specialist. I told the specialist about my PN and he didn't tell me there's a connection with PN. Unfortunately, I didn't ask either. I have since read lack of blood flow can cause nerve damage.

Hi @tonyde, There is a connection of sorts. Here's some information on the topic:
"Vascular disorders (circulation-related problems). Lack of blood flow can cause peripheral neuropathy. A harmless, temporary form of this happens when you sit or lay a certain way and an arm or leg falls asleep. This goes away quickly if you shift position enough for circulation to return. More severe circulation problems can cause serious and permanent nerve damage."

There are a couple of related discussions on the topic also:
-- Vascular neuropathy?: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/vascular-neuropathy/
-- Anyone deal with PAD: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/anyone-deal-with-pad/

Did the specialist start any treatments or suggest any procedures to help with the blood flow?

We didn't talk about the possibilty of a relationship between blood flow and PN. Most of our conversation revolved around leg pain and weakness. My wife was recently schedued for open heart surgery, I decided it was best to wait 6 months before doing anything.

I'm seeing him again on April 1, 2025, blood flow and PN will be my first question.
