Is “long covid” actually mitochondrial disease?
Is “long covid” actually mitochondrial disease? Has anyone gone to a Mitochondrial disease Is “long covid” actually mitochondrial disease? Has anyone gone to a Mitochondrial disease clinic? Was it helpful, or not?
I am on year 3 of “long covid” and some symptoms are managed, some have improved and new symptoms started in early 2024.
We know that sarscov2 can change our dna and damage our immune system. In addition to being a disease of the endothelial system and damaging the gut biome.
So many symptoms of sarscov2 poisoning are the same as many diseases. My symptoms are the same as mitochondrial disease. Mitochondrial disease is very difficult to diagnose as most medical practitioners do not know the role that mitochondria play. They are much more than the immune system.
The guidance for mitochondrial disease is the same as for long covid:
(From cleveland clinic)
There’s no known way to prevent mitochondrial diseases. If you have a mitochondrial disease, you can avoid situations that can make your symptoms worse like:
Exposure to extreme cold and/or heat.
Skipping meals.
Not getting enough sleep.
Stress.
A healthcare provider may suggest you conserve (save) your energy to avoid using up all of your body’s energy in a short period of time.
Question: has anyone gone to a mitochondrial disease clinic? If so, was it helpful, or not? Which clinic did you go to?
Thank you!

Thank you for providing the links to scientific articles about mitochondrial disease. And to the related source of support: umdf.org.
The topic is very complicated, but the article abstracts remind us that mitochondrial dysfunction is likely a major source of Long Covid symptoms for some of us.

Yes, quite complicated. That is why I want to go to a mitochondrial disease clinic. Mayo has one, but I doubt that I will be accepted as a patient. My internal medicine provider is submitting a referral, but so few are accepted. Thus, I will plan to get into a clinic in California. Uscf or stanford probably.
I am not ready to give up on getting some diagnosis other than sarscov2 viral persistence. Something that no one wants to believe is a disease.
