How do I know if I have Carpel Tunnel or Neuropathy? How does the testing differ? How does the treatment )if there is any) differ/ Thank you for your help! Pat

@irishpat70, I'm not a medical expert and have no medical background but from what I've read Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a form of "entrapment neuropathy". Neuropathy Commons is a great place to learn more about the different kinds of neuropathies.

Do you have pain in your hands that you think might be carpal tunnel syndrome?

Hello John, I have Arthritis and diagnosed with Carpel Tunnel in my hands. Where I am confused is that my hands, feet and ankles become so very cold which I don't see as a Carpel Tunnel symptom. I'm also diagnosed with Neuropathy in my feet yet they become so cold I have a space heater nearby all the time. That, to me sounds like PAD. I have so many symptoms maybe I have them all? I doubt that but half kiddingly it's how I feel. Thank you for reaching out and I will check out the link you sent!

I was struggling with the very same questions. I had a stroke of the spinal cord on 01 March 2021 which caused damage to my spinal cord between C2 and C3. The damage affects my right side (the entire hand - palm & backside, to include all four fingers and the thumb). My EMG indicated moderate Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. But that does not explain the pain in the pinky finger, which would involve the Ulnar Nerve. Nor does it explain why the pain began suddenly after my stroke.
My Orthopedic Surgeon gave me a steroid injection into the tunnel to either prove I had CTS or not. The injection did not relieve any pain, thus proving the nerve pain was not caused by CTS, but rather neuropathy caused by the damage to my spinal cord.
I hope this helps.
