Is everyone taking collagen for the osteo?

I started OsteoStrong last week and they are recommending Collagen and another supplement.

I’m not taking OsteoStrong, but I am taking collagen. Ever the skeptic as it relates to supplements (I do take a few because, in the correct amounts, what’s the harm) and their efficacy, but I felt generally better after taking it for awhile.

I also found out the hard way: Discontinue collagen/biotin several days prior to having a CTX blood draw/lab. My CTX level rose about 65% year over year which concerns both my doc and me. I’ll need to repeat the test in October, sans collagen, and hope 🤞🏻the numbers look better. Glad I have a doc who will let me self direct a bit as I asked for a repeat CTX lab and he agreed. Trying to avoid Prolia…

Happy Monday, all! Cheers!

Thanks. Another thing to remember to do. Ugh. I haven’t asked the Endocrinologist yet. Forgot when I saw her. I need to read more and think about it. I am scheduled for Reclast next week with 3 days of a .5 mg steroid prior on the day and day after. I had flu like symptoms for 10 days after last year. What are we putting in our bodies????

I meant that I don't take collagen. I did not mean that you shouldn't.

I never had any issues with Reclast or Evenity…Tymlos was a different story.

“What are we putting into our bodies?” I’ve asked myself that every time I take another med. I guess with osteoporosis, the meds may be debilitating, but the OP probably will be.

My doc keeps suggesting Prolia as the next step in my OP management plan ☠️. His assertion is that there are no new meds coming anytime soon in the OP pipeline. I’m still resisting.

I hope your Reclast infusion is easy peasy,🍋 squeezy. Cheers!

I’ve taken collagen for years, it obviously has not helped with my osteoporosis, but it does wonders for my bursitis.

I am day 3 after 2nd round of Evenity injections. Almost complete opposite reactions. After 1st one I had small amount of injection site pain…. This time, I had a huge lump in both sites and hit to touch…. Used ice packs and ibuprofen…. Lost a lot of sleep they were so painful. Next day, not so bad. 1st round I had horrible headaches…. One causing me to head straight to bed… so far with 2nd round, I have had 1 bad headache, but not near as bad as before. The nurse assured me that as I progressed into the program, the headaches would diminish.
