Is Behcet’s possible?
I have some symptoms, but I haven’t had gastrointestinal issues in 5 years. 5 years ago I went through a period of gastrointestinal issues. I figured out it was food high in histamines that caused pain and bloating. But now I am fine. Is that how Behcet’s works?
My neurologist referred me to a rheumatologist. I have three autoimmune conditions.

Hello! Yes, Behcet's Disease is possible! I was diagnosed with the condition 16 years ago and was part of two clinical trials at the NIH before both were closed due to finding issues. It is rare and tough to diagnose, but it does exist. I was only 13 (I am 31 now) when I started experiencing symptoms, and it took me 2.5 years to get a diagnosis. Every doctor I came across refused to diagnose me until my Mom found a specialist through NIH who had and still has a Behcet's clinic at NYU. His name is Dr. Yazici. Here is the link to the Behcet's clinic. I attached a screenshot of his name and info. He was wonderful!
I was on Remicade infusions for 8 years and can now say that I have been in "remission" for years! I currently only take a couple of medications, and the one that helps the most is called "Otezla". It is just two pills a day, and sometimes I even forget that I have the disease! I have many other chronic health conditions that I struggle with day-to-day, but I am happy to say that Behcet's is not one of them.
Here is the link to the NYU clinic's information about Behcet's: https://nyulangone.org/conditions/behcets-disease.
Here is the link to the page with all the doctors that treat Behcet's and how you can make an appointment to see them or contact them:

I hope this information helps and gives you some hope that the condition can improve and even go into remission. I wish you the best!
