Was wondering if anyone knows if Medicare will pay for a new IOL if it needs to be replaced because if visual problems caused by the first lens

I think yes - as long as it isn’t a lens or lens enhancement they wouldn’t pay for to begin with (e.g. Toric lens).

But I never cease to be surprised at what Medicare won’t pay for. Your doc should know.

Medicare completely covered the cost of the exchange for me in February. It also covered the lens because it was a monofocal.

Did you elect to have the exchange lenses be for up close vision or for distance vision. I can't seem to find anyone who selected up close (reading) lenses. I want to know what the range is in selecting this exchange lens. Will I only have decent vision for a few feet? Or across a room??

My doctor said it would, but I haven't done it yet. I have Medicare and a Blue Cross supplement

I have one close up lens and one clear lens. The combination of the two together does not produce and problem with my distance vision. And, the close up lens allows me to read without reading glasses.

Thank you. We briefly discussed this possibility. I wore contact lenses like this for nearly 20 years. But I am 75 now and I worry that if I could not adjust to the multifocal lenses, will I still be able to adjust to these?
