I have stage 3 highly invasive breast cancer.
Pagets of nipple, 2 ductal and 2 axillary lymph nodes. Did biopsies with markers. Started 5 chemo TX 3 weeks apart (last one is Aug. 8th). 4 chemo meds= herpacin, carboplatin, taxol, perjetta and some steroids, anti nausea meds and the day after, a neulasta injection to boost wbc. Some not so fun side effects but im managing. Will get another mri and ultrasound mamo to see if chemo had any effect on reducing cancer growths before surgury. Dr. Will stage lymphnodes during surgury. Going for double (dmx) flat chest asthetic. Then radiation. Leaving port in for follow up includes contuing with herceptin for 9mo. I'm all in with the course of TX. Not easy but one step at a time and lots of resources to help get me through. My mother suffered terribly and died of breast cancer at age 50 in 1974. Her sister and her daughter also passed ftom breast cancer during my lifetime. They helped forge the way to better studies and treament and that is how I look at it. That i too am forging the way. Keep on keepin on.

You got this❣️ I went through a similar although in a different formula. I took TAC, then herceptin came later because it wasn’t approved for frontline therapy yet. I was diagnosed December 2004. I always say it isn’t always easy, but the years I have had with my husband and taking care of family and doing the things I love was absolutely worth it. Are you estrogen positive as well as her2?

I initially tried chemo but after a horrible allergic reaction I decided it wasn’t for me. I had stage III cancer and just felt that it would make my condition worse. I’ve also heard that my type of cancer is somewhat chemo resistant. I had initially tried Taxol. It is very disheartening that the best thing we have in 2023 to fight this dreaded disease is 40 year old toxic tree bark. Take care.

I refused verzenio because the side affect risk were worse. It would have only got me 4% from 86 to 90 percent in 9 years. I’m at low to medium risk. I believe from changing my eating habits for better I can change those numbers.

I got 5 sessions of radiation with a high dose at each session. Targeted. It was easy. I have DCIS with invasion to tissue but tumor was only 4mm (small) and margins were clean. I am not doing tamoxifen therapy so I wanted to do the radiation. My story! Hope that helps! God bless!

I have DCIS in situ. I have positive estrogens and progesterone and negative HER2. A very small tumor that was removed with a lumpectomy. I went for radiation consult and my early stage carcinoma with a 10% (actually in my case 4-6%) prognosis went to 20% via the radiologist AND he said if I don’t get radiation I have to get a mastectomy !!! I am meeting my primary oncologist again at the end of the month. I am researching that the DCIS in situ with no HER2 have a very good odds. Why is my radiologist trying to scare me so much????

I was in the same board as you are. My oncologist also scare me by suggesting Mastetomy and not lumptomay. He said my lump was huge and could do lumptomay. That part was really scary.
