Internal Pain 1 Year After Prostatectomy
I am 71 years old, in good health and still run 4 or 5 miles several times each week. I had RALP one year ago with no complications. I have some minor stress incontinence that requires me to use the lightest Tena "shields" during the day and level 1 Tena "guards" when I run. For several months I have not required any pads at night. Also, with the help of Cialis, I have been able to resume normal sexual activity. My PSA tests have shown .04 or undetectable levels.
So far, so good. But from the beginning I have had some episodic pain that seems to com from the left side of where my prostrate used to be. It has faded over time to become less frequent and less intense, but has recently flared up again. In fact, it was bad enough that it woke me up several times during the night. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Should I cut back or stop running to see if it goes away? Could it be a nerve problem? In the operating notes the surgeon noted that nerve sparing on the left side was "fair" whie on the right side it was "excellent".

@ssonkin, fellow members like @stantallusa @lowth21 @olanordman @ken82 have talked about experiencing pain long after surgery. Might your experience be similar to any shared in these 2 related discussions?

You sure have good results with your recovery otherwise. I sure hope this gets resolved. Have you talked to your surgeon and the pain and the report about the nerve sparing being "fair" on the left side?
I had robotic Prostate removal. Have been a cripple ever since. Tried everything. Injections. Nerve burning. Chiropractic. Nothing helped. I now have a spinal stimulator implanted. It has been a horrible experience.
They are all in complete denial
