Inhaler Cost Reduction Program

Posted by zscline @zscline, Jun 16 9:07pm

I got a letter recently from my health insurance provider, which happens to be Humana. It was specifically addressed to COPD suffers, so I almost tossed it out, because I am only dealing with Bronchiectasis. Its purpose was to inform members of a program they could sign up for that would only cost them $10 a month for their maintenance inhaler. I've been paying $47. I decided to give them a call and see if it could apply to someone like me and, happy surprise, they said that it could. It was an easy process and the reduction in monthly cost will be well appreciated. I want to share this, in case Humana is your health insurance provider or if your program offers such a program. If so, I encourage you to check on it. I called my pharmacy and they processed it, no problem.

Which inhaler?

I use the Advair HFA inhaler, but it didn't seem to be the only one on their list.

Hi! I also received letter from insurance company about a program to lower costs on inhaler. In addition to that, I have learned that several pharmaceutical companies offer discount programs for people on commercial insurance. It seems that those on Medicare aren’t eligible however. ( which is ridiculous in my opinion) but anyway, STIOLTO RESPIMAT and asmanex both offer programs that allows you to get for $0-$15 per script. It is definitely worth exploring if you are using a daily inhaler.
Take care, Dee
