I take cyclobenzaprine for MS muscle spasms. Happy w/results. I may be addicted but at 78 I don’t care. Figure I deserve a few days/months/even years without the excruciating pain of 40+years MS. Realize this is not choice for others but it works out well for myself. Best wishes.

My doctor took me off of Flexeril due to information that it may cause cognitive issues. You may want to speak with your doctor about using another muscle relaxant.

@westwoman3698 the problem with this med is too much can really screw with your head and cause you to fall. It is also in a class of medications that are not recommended for elderly people. Although I understand your situation and with MS you’re not able to take many other meds and at 78 as you stated you don’t care. Sorry you’re in so much pain and I hope you find peace in anyway you see fit.

Flexeril is a strong medicine that ive used on a regular basis.At first its alittle harsh until the body adjusts but it will calm down muscle spasms and pain.One started yo must manage it as needed and becareful with it ,as it is a sedative.I prefer to use zaneflex as it fits my lifestyle alittle easier

I took Cyclobenzaprine for 20 years, mostly to help me sleep through pain. It worked for 15 years, then it didn't. I developed a high tolerance for medication - they don't work anymore basically - including Cyclo. Now I take nothing (not even OTC stuff ) for pain.

I was rx’d Cyclobenzaprine 5 mg for back pain. I was uneasy about taking it as I remember taking it once or twice in my 30s (I am now F 82) and it put me to sleep so profoundly I missed work the day after. I don’t know how strong the dose was back then but I’m wondering if my current dose of 5 mg was not strong enough to have any effect (it didn’t even put me to sleep), and what dose is everyone else taking as no one says.

@haarvee I believe that is happening to me. I've been on Cyclobenzaprine since 2005. I've been on many pain killers as well. Some I became dependent so I had to do withdrawals. It took a month. Rough times. I need a muscle relaxant that works. Cyclo is not cutting it anymore. I suffer with severe muscle spasms in two different area's. I am on Gabapentin for the Fibromyalgia and sometimes those two together would work. Now it doesn't. I want off of Gabapentin. It is affecting my memory terribly. I want my memory back. I have so much pain and right now I am finding that chewable aspirin, 81mg works. I can't take that on a steady task. I have an ulcer and my husband takes it for a blood thinner. I don't have that issue. I see my pain med doc next month. I will ask him for help on that end. I am heading right where you are now. I find I get no results. Being on everything over 20yrs I have get nerve ablations and I get shots. I get these bad headaches sometimes from my stiff neck. I apply heat and then massage the neck and on up to my skeletal point. What a great relief. It's hard when you are sleeping and get attacked. I'm up many times during the night because of pain. That is when I find myself week and grab that baby aspirin. Then I have to have a food item so I open up my granola package and take a good bite. I don't want to eat when I am supposed to be sleeping. I know you understand what I'm saying.

@haarvee I took Oxycodone for over ten years. Started with 5 mg four times a day and stopped with 20 mg four times a day. Went through withdrawal and waited a year to try oxy again. Still doesn’t work…no opioid works! I’ve tried them all. Walking and standing are painful. I’m looking a a hip needing replacement now and have no idea how the pain will be controlled! It’s a difficult way to live when carrying clothing/towels to washing machine really hurts!
