Inflectra & Methotrexate

Posted by tajzog @tajzog, Feb 10 7:00am

My son has just been diagnosed with UC. Started on Predisone and it has helped but can't stay on it long due to side effects. Doc has prescribed a combination of Inflectra & Methotrexate. The latter seeming to be pretty harsh drug. I am unable to find any data or research that suggests that Methotrexate helps or increases effectiveness of Inflectra infusions. Can anyone point me to reliable research? Thanks

Welcome @tajzog, I'm sorry to hear your son has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I know that medications and side effects can be a little scary sometimes. I'm not sure if you have seen this site but thought it might be helpful. The Chron's & Colitis Foundation has some information that might provide some answers for you.

It must be difficult for your son to deal with UC. How is he doing?
