In search of “Johns Hopkins treatment that ends neuropathy?

Posted by smueller19 @smueller19, 1 day ago

I read on Internet that Johns Hopkins has a treatment that ends neuropathy. It is probably a scam but wondered if anybody had tried it or was familiar with it.

Hello,
if one puts a search in google such as "Johns Hopkins cure for neuropathy", one will find like all other medical institutions that there is no cure for neuropathy but only some treatments to slow it down to help cope with it. And not all treatments work with everyone.
Take care,
gus

@smueller19, I'm not a doctor and have no medical experience other than being a patient but I have been diagnosed with idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy at Rochester Mayo Clinic and there is no cure for neuropathy. There are many treatments that can provide some forms of relief for neuropathy symptoms and in some cases there may be procedures that can eliminate the neuropathy symptoms when the cause is nerve compression and the nerve compression can be eliminated, just my non-medical opinion. If it's something you saw advertised on the Internet, my first thoughts are do some research on the treatment to see if it's legitimate. I have seen several different treatments claiming to be approved by major medical facilities when in fact it's not true.

If you haven't seen the list of complementary and alternative therapies for neuropathy, you might want to check this information available from the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy - https://www.foundationforpn.org/therapies/

There is no cure for neuropathy, once a nerve is damaged or has died that's it.

This sounds like a scam. Neuropathy cannot be cured in most cases and depending on the cause, it could be slowed from progressing if a cause is identified and can be treated. Many time the cause can’t be found and it is classified as idiopathic.

I have idiopathic small fiber neuropathy confirmed via skin punch biopsy and my neurologist said there is no cure. I just do my best to manage and reduce symptoms through supplements, diet, walking for circulation, pain management (lidocaine or capsaicin creams/patches, gabapentin/Lyrica as needed).
