Important information about statins that I’m going to ask my doc about
Just a bit of information I discovered last week. One of the side effects of taking "simvistatin" is temporary memory loss. It is the only statin that has this effect. I am going to talk to my .doctor about stopping it, with his guidance of course. I have had some short lapses in memory .... forgetting part of my phone number, etc.

@lioness- Glad to hear that Crestor has also worked for you!
I believe the best things you can do for the triglycerides is exercise regularly and do your best to eat well. I enjoy walking usually 3x a week. I walk approx. 3 1/2 miles in 1 hr. and 20 minutes.
It took a while to get to that, but keep at it and it will become easier! I am also back "somewhat" to the local gym. It's hard to stick with that during this nice weather though. I'm busy with the garden & yard and just enjoy being outdoors rather than in a gym. Good luck!

Maybe accounts for some “dementia “ diagnoses.
Thanks for mentioning this. Will check it out as I can't take statins and would like to see if I could lower cholesterol beyond what change in 'diet and exercise' have accomplished.
All the statins include memory loss
@shani You are so right Everyone needs to advocate for themselves .You know your body better then anyone
It is hard to figure all this out, isn’t it? I was on statins for years (I think since they came out) until they all of a sudden quit working. We reduced, then eventually discontinued them but my problems got worse instead of better. It took years (since 2005) to get really sick and in my case it wasn’t one drastic event like a heart attack or stroke. Now it has gotten my attention, serious and something systemic we are working through. I started taking them again in November after 15 years without. The weird thing is, my cholesterol numbers have always been at their best when I am taking the highest intensity statin (rosuvastatin) at a super low dosage (5mg twice weekly). It would be nice to live in a bubble and have the ability to see direct cause/effect of all this. THE BEST THING for me was finding doctors that I can communicate with and learning how this all pertains to me.
It is the borderline cholesterol in combination with a calcium scoring of 199 and family history of heart disease which prompted the doctor to put me on a cholesterol lowering drug.
My doctors had me try Cholestoff and also psyllium after statins and other medications for managing my cholesterol did not work. I have successfully recommended these to my own family members (we have familial hypercholesterolemia-family high cholesterol).
Probably useful in rare instances. I don’t believe Big Pharma will be happy until every man, woman, and child is hooked on some pharmaceutical drug. I used to trust doctors. Now I investigate as much as possible everything they tell me. Are we truly better off filling our bodies with chemicals??
Statins are a big money racket and very good for Pfizer and big Pharma like the covid vaccine. Are they necessary?
