Imodium -- liquid or pills?

Posted by grrranny @grrranny, Sep 30 10:13pm

I've been drinking liquid Imodium for my current loose stools, but am wondering if the tablets would be better (or at least as good)?
Probable cause is combination of meds with intestinal flu that's going around.

Good question, @grrranny . I'd like to bring other members into this discussion. @magluchi @phoenixrising39 @kariulrich @lynda48 @kitty2 @catherine1290: Any thoughts about whether taking liquid or pill loperamide (Imodium) anti-diarrhea medication would help more? Or are they the same?

Having only taken the pill it's difficult to say for sure, but if you read the dosing on the bottle and have the correct liquid measuring utensil it should be equal.

Thanks, @catherine1290! The liquid has a little plastic measuring cup attached to the plastic bottle.
I like that the dose is "adjustable".
Can the tablets be cut in half with a pill-splitter?

If the tablet is scored you can split it but pill cutting is rarely precise.

@grrranny I take a half tablet of Immodium every night at bedtime. I use a small paring knife to split the pills as they don't fit into my pill splitter. Works fine for me.
