Has anyone had Immunotherapy for squamous cell carcinoma?

Posted by jon6063 @jon6063, Dec 20, 2025

This year I have had major surgery and radiation for squamous cell carcinoma. They are suggesting intravenous treatment of Pembrolizumab. Has anyone ever had this?? pro's-con's? Thanks

I believe your treatment is called KEYTRUDA. I have been on it 4 years. It was right after I had covid twice so we dont know if keytruda or covid damaged my heart. My only problem is breathlessness. It is every day and it is debilitating.
My 3 doctors can't find out why I am suffering. As long as I am sitting I am ok. When I get up and walk 10-20 feet I can't breath. My cancer is Melanoma in my lungs.
I haven't found anyone that has this problem.

Hi @jon6063, I moved your question about immunotherapy for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) to the Melanoma & Skin Cancer support group. Do you have SCC of the skin or is it a head and neck cancer? Have you started immunotherapy now? How are you doing?

Where is your Cancer at? Could you be more specific?

@colleenyoung It was in my neck. I cannot start immunotherapy due to my co-pay is over $2,300 every 3 weeks and unfortunately I cannot afford it.

@jon6063 please contact the manufacturer of keytruda to see if they can help you with treatment. Yes keytruda is a miracle drug and it has cured about 17 different cancers.
