Ilocecal Valve and NETS Bloating and burping in small intestine
In 2009 my wife had two tumors removed and a 12 inch resection of her small intestine including the ileocecal valve and appendix. She is now experiencing severe bloating below her rib cage. Align and Gasx are her go to meds. Is there something the GI doctor might be missing to get her relief? She is scheduled for a Lactulose Breath Test but not until Jan. Not sure she can wait that long.

Hopefully there will be a cancellation and your wife can get into see the gastroenterologist before January.
If you can attend an appointment on the spur of the moment, sometimes it helps to keep phoning and asking to be called in the case of a cancellation.
Reading your post this morning, I am struck with your concern and practical care in asking questions and seeking assistance for your wife.. I know, that for my husband , caretaking is a task he willingly accepts. He does extraordinarily well and I am aware that he requires his own rest and rejuvenation time.
Gratitude for Caretakers.

2 Reactions@davidschoonover709 It sounds like they suspect it might be SIBO. Someone close to me has been struggling with that.
I had my IC Valve removed 11 days ago and I will be on the lookout for signs of SIBO or BAM (bile acid malabsorption) which I've read can be brought on by IC Valve removal, as well as certain vitamin deficiencies.
I'm sorry they are asking your wife to wait! I would probably see if I could request they order the test now, before the appt, or even see if my PCP would be willing to order it. Occasionally that kind of thing has worked for me. Certainly, as Maeve115 suggested, getting on a cancellation list can help.
Also, if you search the posts here, in the archives are some discussions about SIBO. Maybe she could get some ideas on how to alter her diet or do other things which have worked for people diagnosed with this.
Good luck, and let us know how you make out!
