If you've had IVIG's at Mayo, did your insurance pay for them?
I’ve had at least 10 IVIG’s. To make a long story short, Mayo does not do a good job from an insurance standpoint regarding them. I don’t blame the Mayo physicians. I actually blame Mayo for not employing more people in Patient Billing. There’s not enough room here for me to explain what I’m referring to. Just know that if you’re going to get an IVIG at Mayo, you can expect to pay 50% to 100% of the thousands of dollars in charges. If you complain, Patient Account Services will just tell you that no patient is allowed to contact Mayo’s Patient Billing department, and that therefore, it’s the responsibility of the patient to file claims with the insurance carrier. That’s all I’m going to say on this matter. 🙂
