Idiopathic neuropathy after covid vaccine.
Has anyone been diagnosed with idiopathic neuropathy after receiving covid vaccines? I was a very active person and started to have problems walking with loss of balance. A neurologist diagnosed me with idiopathic neuropathy and I now am dependent on a cane or walker. Before covid I hiked and kayaked, it is very depressing, I was a very active 76 year old. I am working on acceptance, but it is very hard.

I was diagosed with petechiae, bell's palsy and then nerve reaction probably neuritis after the Moderna vaccine. The nerve tests done at Vandy showed no nerve damage which seems the hall mark of a vaccine reaction. Seems a virus reaction does cause nerve damage.
So one can have the symptoms with or without nerve damage. Doesn't change the side effects or how it affects our lives though.
I am able to walk and do some mild hiking now. I still have nerve reactions with the twitching and jerking when my body is stressed in some way by a virus or maybe just general stress. But after several years of healing the situation is definitely better.
I so wish "better for you.
Thank you

Ann something my neurologist recommended which helped me is a supplement call SPM.
Here is the description on the Metagenics site that speasks about SPM
Specialized Pro-resolving Mediators (SPMs) are advanced dietary supplements derived from omega-3 fatty acids (EPA/DHA) that actively "resolve" inflammation rather than simply suppressing it. They assist the immune system in clearing debris, reducing chronic inflammation, and promoting tissue repair, often used to support joint health, cardiovascular function, and post-exercise recovery.
But ...
Here is how I think of it:
SPM is what our bodies make naturally from omega 3s , but with age, stress, illness the body becomes less able to keep up with the demand or even have the same ability to convert omega 3s to SPM.
So I supplement.
There is no way to know if SPM played a major role in my "bettering" but I used it and continue to use it and it seemed to help and continues to seem to help.
Copilot suggested adding a baby aspirin to the SPM to heighten the effect. Obviously this is something which needs to be run by a doctor since aspirin is a medicine and can have different effects and interactions.
Thank you, I will look into it.
