Identity Dissociation Trauma Coping Ideas

This is about identity dissociation which i feel is very misunderstood n often glamorized or even lied about so it’s difficult to talk about or request assistance but it’s the right time to reach out, While I’m fronting and communicating the best I’m here speaking for everyone while I can for us all to look back on at any time if needed.

Looking for ideas for healthy coping strategies for our newly discovered identity system.

Haven’t had any guidance this far so it’s been quite the journey but some now work in multiplicity as a few were seen and welcomed in while in a mindset that opened the system very heavily into dissociation actually more than once to get to the group we are currently. but we don’t know if there may be others who are still not yet seen.

Not sure if fragments or full identities may remain and who are probably very hurt parts of us. We are already overwhelmed with strong emotions we have never in our lives coped correctly with, felt without sending them away, or felt at all. with the ones here already and there is no way any more emotional pain can be welcomed in safely bc there are already children seen n feeling safe enough to be fronting at times, and we also have our own two children to protect and raise.

At this time we know to protect from guilt and keep every child safe that we just can’t handle anything else until we do more trauma work with our therapist and then still not unsure if we’ll be capable of being strong enough to address anything else and this really hurts.

It is not fair that our life has been so painful. And not fair to let anyone sit and suffer n not be included in life with us. We are sad thinking that anyone has to keep living in pain. And not sure if they can feel us in our safety n our decision n not feel abandoned or inherently unwelcome. I don’t know if they realize that if everyone were to be too close right now that we all crash and all the children will suffer forever.

I understand how dissociation disorders esp identity splits are very rare n very painful accept that a persons life was so painful and it’s just a realization we struggle with altogether that it is this with us.

The best thing we’ve done so far to regulate and cope is by painting. Also the younger ones stim a lot more than the others as there is underlying autism throughout. The others taught themselves unhealthy coping young n no nothing else but really want a fresh start n real tools for once. Self sabotage n addiction was used as a last resort n no one wants that past causing more issues here again. Painting is how we express our creativity the best, help regulate, n possibly try to show what our inside world looks like visually . N we’ve had to avoid music lately bc we spent our lives attempting communication through lyrics to each other n now we r aware n r concerned if we hear more attempts from outside of us that we might get confused n accidentally make a big mistake with everyone’s healing.

Anyone already seen has no need to force us to listen to songs anymore we talk in a more direct way. Our favorite thing is music n now that can’t be our main thing.

I can't even imagine what all must have occurred in your lifetime to bring you to this point, but I acknowledge that it was likely quite horrific. I can't say how sorry I am that you've had to go through that. I trust you will find healing and wholeness, bit by bit.

- Dissociative identity disorder
Formerly known as multiple personality disorder, this disorder involves "switching" to other identities. You may feel as if you have two or more people talking or living inside your head. You may feel like you're possessed by other identities.

Each identity may have a unique name, personal history and features. These identities sometimes include differences in voice, gender, mannerisms and even such physical qualities as the need for eyeglasses. There also are differences in how familiar each identity is with the others. Dissociative identity disorder usually also includes bouts of amnesia and often includes times of confused wandering.
