Digital disimpaction: can anything else help?
I was paralyzed few years back and now have to digitally discompact myself. It can be very frustrating at times when you can’t get your stool to come down . Is there any tools or finger extensions or anything to help get the stool that’s at your finger tip but can’t get?

I am a quadriplegic and got a colostomy for my bowel control & to make things a little easier for caregivers. I've always taken miralax daily, though now it's so the stool makes it into the bag. Would you be able to pass it if your stool was softer?
Try giving yourself a Dulcolax suppository. It should work within 30 min and hopefully you won't have to do that anymore.
Fluid is your best friend in this situation. Enemas are another option to help dislodge stuck stool. Since you’re paralyzed is any part of your GI tract involved? Is this new or ongoing for how long? Gastroparesis might be man issue secondary to your paralysis. In my youth I was a public health nurse and this was a common complaint. Are you taking a fiber supplement with plenty of water throughout the day?
