I want to wean off Pristiq because my marriage depends on it
I have been taking anxiety/depression meds since I gave birth almost two years ago. It wasn't until a few months ago where I switched to pristiq (did the genesight testing and it was a medication that worked with my body). It's the 25 mg ER tablet. The past few months my sex drive has become non existent. So much so that my husband has been acting cold towards me. I have no sexual desire. I don't even want to kiss him/touch him. I don't initiate. He has stopped trying to be intimate with me. I have an appointment with my primary care provider to discuss weaning off of the pristiq. Has anyone else successfully weaned off of it? What are you doing in place of the pill for your anxiety/depression? I know everyone is different and the side effects may be different for each but I am looking for honest input. I am so ready to be a wife again and not a mopey sexless person. Thanks in advance!! 🙂

This also sounds like a communication issue between you and your husband. The medication is working for you. Perhaps you could benefit from some relationship counseling that can address how you as a couple navigate this.

2 ReactionsYou might not need any psychiatric medication any longer. It sounds as if you needed it after the hormonal changes, and stress, from having your child. Pristiq causes Impotence in men! A true visual of what it can do to your sexuality. Please try to gradually go off of it. Please find a therapist who will help and understand your situation. Your husband needs to understand that it is the medication, not you, who is causing this unfortunate situation. Psychiatric medication is not supposed to be used long-term, unless the person has a long-standing chronic condition. Sexual intimacy is important in a marriage, and it's fun!

1 ReactionIf you still need pristine, many have found success with sex drive by adding Wellbutrin. Maybe something to discuss with your doctor
