I had discomfort in knees after TKR 6 years later , now 7 years!!!

Sept 2017 Rt TKR and Jan 2018 Lft TKR. Feb 2022 I had a Lft THR.

A couple of years after the knee replacements I was starting to feeling some achiness in mostly the right knee. The surgeon prescribed aquatic PT along with conventional PT. Not much help. Then on and off I was going through PT but with very little relief. I really noticed the pain/discomfort after swimming (go figure). So, after experiencing some hip discomfort when recovering from my left THR (later diagnosed as SI Joint Dysfunction) I was placing my right leg under a great deal of stress. My rt knee was really struggling. When I saw the surgeon again, he made me feel nice and warm and fuzzy when he told me he is no longer doing knee replacements. He gave me a sleeve and told me to rub Voltaren gel on it. Since I was transitioning to Medicare, I decided to get another opinion. I choose a supplemental plan just for that purpose(on advice of the family). I saw 2 doctors over the next year. Same thing, PT, sleeve and Voltaren Gel. A year ago, I saw my last bastion of hope. The doctor flexed my knees and said, it feels like the bands aren't tight enough. He asked me to try a knee brace - Don Joy Reaction Knee brace. WOW!!! No more aches after swimming!!! He saved me from revision surgery. The new doctor wanted to see the specs from the original surgeon to send over the specs of the devices he used. In between this visit and my follow up I saw my PT and asked if there's maybe another option that could mimic the effects of the cumbersome knee brace. He used K-Tape!!! Wow!!! It worked great!!! At the follow-up with the doctor, he told me that the bands probably needed to be stronger/tighter. He asked how the brace worked? I told him the brace worked like a charm. I showed him my knees with the K-Tape and explained how well it has worked out. For the past year now, I have been using K-Tape to keep my knees happy. The tape can last upto 5 days, with walking, bike riding, swimming, jacuzzi, sauna, and showers. The biggest enemy is long pants. I have been applying the tape myself, once you get the hang of it, it is easy. Buy a small roll and practice. There is also a precut but then if you need longer, won't work and if shorter, then you are just wasting money. Then you can go with the bulk roll (over 100'), there's plenty of videos on You-Tube showing how to apply the tape. What a blessing, just wish the previous 3 doctors had a clue!!! Here's a shot of my happy knees all taped up!!! That is all it takes!!!
