I really want to hook up with a Mayo Primary Care doctor!
My wife has been a patient of Mayo Clinic Jacksonville for a couple of years due to her renal failure. We have recently moved here full time and I am looking for a Primary Care doctor at Mayo, but have been told that they are not taking on any new patients. I really want to stay within Mayo after seeing the great care they give my wife, but that doesn't seem possible. Any suggestions?

@sprotz, I can understand wanting to stay under the Mayo Clinic umbrella for your primary care needs in Jacksonville. Here is more information about
- Mayo Clinic Primary Care in Florida https://www.mayoclinic.org/departments-centers/primary-care-florida/sections/overview/ovc-20533148
There are several primary care locations. Not all services are available at each location.
Community Internal Medicine — Cannaday Primary Care Center
Family Medicine — Cannaday Primary Care Center
Family Medicine — Gate Parkway Primary Care Center
Family Medicine — Beaches Primary Care Center
Family Medicine — St. Augustine Primary Care Center
I might suggest calling the Jacksonville appointment line http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63 and asking if there are primary care practices in Jacksonville that work closely with Mayo Clinic.
@sprotz
I can see Colleen has already reached out to you with great information.
My wife and I are in Mayo Community Intermal Primary Care at Mayo Jacksonville. We have an outstanding primary care doctor (Doctor Valery). He will actually call you at home. I use the patient portal to communicate with him after medical visits and questions I have. I have become to think of him as a friend not just my doctor.
Colleen had given you other primary care centers that probably have openings. They are still connected to Mayo just in different buildings. Depending on where you live the locations she gave can guide you.
If you are considering Gate Parkway: I go to the Gate Parkway for my labs and physical therapy. If you have never been there it is a great location just off 295 and easy to get to. Very ample parking, great building and great facility. Reception, doctors, and techs all are outstanding. Just a great location and staff.
I would go there for my primary care if I did not have such an outstanding primary care doctor at Mayo main campus. I have been with him since 2015. I think my wife recently did check at Gate Parkway and was told there were openings at Gate. She decided like me we just could not give up our outstanding primary care doctor just to have a quicker drive and better available parking.
Just know if you go to a Mayo primary care outside Mayo campus they have the same referral to specialists, specialist tests, surgeries at the Mayo campus thus you do not lose any access to Mayo facilities and specialists.
My initial visit to Mayo 4 years ago was to Endocrinology and Urology. Most of my time since has been with Endocrinology. Recently I was talking with one of the support staff gals and she commented about getting my PCP to submit a referral to orthopedics. I told her that I consider Dr XYZ to be my PCP at Mayo and she said sorta oh really? Couple days later I had a referral, but it will be dumb luck getting an appt to coincide with my next visit.
