I just ordered cur cumin 500mg to calm down inflammation in feet.

Two of my friends have told me about Cucumin supplements, which help with inflammation. I am getting discouraged because it is starting to dominate my life. I can only stand and do projects for two hours and then have to soak my feet in Epson salts and water and do a complete restorative yoga session which helps, but it also takes, a lot of time has anyone else tried supplements to help the nerve damage in feet?

I have idiopathic small fiber neuropathy (diagnosed with skin punch biopsy) and it started in my feet. I had burning, tingling and pins/needles. I take alpha Lipoic acid and Acetyl l carnitine supplements which helps small fiber neuropathy nerve pain. You can also try capsaicin/lidocaine nerve pain creams. My nerve pain would get worse when I walked in hot weather (heat and swelling/inflammation may aggravate nerves in your feet). You may want to try super cushioned shoes when you need to walk or stand. I bought bzees shoes which are cushioned and lightweight. I have also heard about Hoka brand shoes that are also cushioned and sturdy. You want to limit walking barefoot since this can aggravate nerves.

P.S. Have you been diagnosed with diabetes or seen a neurologist or podiatrist about your symptoms? Sometimes, you can have a vitamin B12 deficiency or B6 toxicity which causes nerve damage/symptoms. Low iron can affect oxygen flow to nerves in your feet. You may want to have your doctor do blood work to make sure there is nothing flagging as a potential cause for your nerve pain.

A caution that high bioavailability forms of curcumin supplements have been linked to rare cases of liver injury:

@demeter. I empathize with you. I know how pain can dominate our lives and leave us suffering daily. I know how chronic pain changes our personalities and lifestyles. It sucks!

In 2013 I went through treatment for anal cancer. I am 10 years NED and I thank the doctors for that. But I don't thank them for the lumbar multilevel degenerative disc disease that the chemo and radiation treatments caused. And more recently, in the past two years, I have suffered with neuropathy. And that's made it difficult for me to walk because of the pain in my hip joints and feet.

The only oral pain med I take is Tylenol 8 hour arthritis. But I do take a myriad of daily supplements to help me manage pain and to promote health and wellness. And I do take 2600 mg of turmeric, curcumin & ginger to help with inflammation. And I take Boswellia and Osteo-bi flex. But in all honesty, I sincerely believe the one supplement that is helping me with pain more than anything else is 600 mg R-Alpha Lipoic Acid stabilized (R-ALA). I've only been on it 23 days and I can now stand on my feet and walk through the stores with less pain. But I am also going through physical therapy, and that is beginning to help. I'm not able to walk that one-mile yet but I'm heading in that direction. R-ALA is going to make this happen for me.

I hope you try R-ALA and I hope you feel better soon. Hugs for happiness. CB

@dlydailyhope. Hi. I bought four pairs of those Bzees shoes from HSN. I love them. I needed a shoe that fit below my ankle and that didn't rub that area painfully. This shoe did the trick. I hope they come out with a summer style. Happy days to everybody. CB

Thank you so much for the information. I will definitely get the Tylenol for arthritis and check out the RALA lipoic acid. I do believe that strengthening muscles helps I'm going to make an appointment with a naturopath who will analyze medication's in physical problems and prescribe supplements which a friend of mine takes 10 in the morning and 10 in the afternoon she is 93 and in perfect health after a round of cardiac problems
I also went for a digital scan of feet to get orthotics made for new sneakers so I can stand for three hours instead of two hours. it's a journey for sure but one worth pursuing. Thanks for all your information.

I read that there may be bad interaction between ALA & thyroid med, such as synthroid.
Anyone taking both?

I was. The alpha lipoic acid reacted very bad with my thyroid medication. I ended up in the hospital with severe swelling my whole body and throat swelled up. Took a week for it to go back down the swelling. Then another week to get my asthma to settle down. My neurologist was mad at me.
