I have one that is in remission. I had ankle surgery 3 months ago and the incisions have not healed. The doctor doesn’t understand why. I’m going to wound care and they also can’t explain this. I am not diabetic.
My question is can the autoimmune disease cause this?

@tsharkey01: I am wondering if you have had your markers checked. If you have inflammation, even without obvious symptoms of PMR, it might be impeding your healing. That is my conclusion from reading the aforementioned article. I too have PMR and am down to 5 mg of prednisone, but have just canceled shoulder surgery. My sed rate is always in the low 30s.

Thank you. I’m going today for the blood work.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing that but I doubt it’s related to PMR.

My PMR went into remission and I tapered off prednisone in February of 2024. I had back surgery with a 3 inch incision in mid December and healed very quickly. I’m now healing from some minor oral surgery and it seems to be healing well also.
