I had TKR about 8 years ago. I am 75 , play tennis and losing my bend!

I play tennis at least 3 times a week for 2 to 3 hours. The stiffness and flexibility are terrible still after all these years. I have gone back to the Dr. on 2 occasions, but x-rays show all is as it should be, what now? My current bend is LESS than 90%.

That's no good. Did you get to a good bend during your postoperative PT? Did you continue working on your bend for a full year after surgery? When did you notice it starting to decline? Does it help to do daily stretching exercise, or do you just do tennis?

Yes, I had a decent bend but did not continue the exercises once I started playing tennis. I messed up I know. Within a year the bend was gone. I still play tennis 3 times a week, but the knee is always sore, especially the day after playing. Has anyone else got themselves in this position? What was your solution other than a redo.

May be time to go back to PT for evaluation and therapy.

Does you doctor say redoing it will correct the problem? I've got Patellar Clunk as well as another area of scar tissue that causes me grief and keeping me from getting more than I've got (130) which is pretty ok but I'd like to get more. My doctor is willing to remove the scar tissue but I'm not sure but I'm not sure if I want to go thru another surgery especially if I can't get a guarantee my problem will be fixed once and for all . I'm just now a year out.

Wow.... 130! I would love to be 130. Keep doing what you are doing, I didn't and thus my bend went away.

That’s a very tough sport on knees and may be cause of need for initial TKR. Maybe back to PT to see if can regain flex. I Would consider going to pickle ball, seriously.

You are right.... very hard on knees. It was the cause of the initial TKR. Hard to give it up as our team has been to Nationals in 65 and over a couple of times. Doctor has ordered more PT.

Good, a month of PT and should be able to tell if can get flex results. Always the “scar tissue” that have to deal with. Good luck.
