Thalamic nerve pain after stroke

Posted by catcat @catcat, Mar 24, 2016

I had a stroke 10 years ago and now have Thalmic nerve pain. My left side is numb to heat, cold and pain, although I have an intense burning on the side from head to foot. I take Lyrica, 100 mg 3 times a day. That helps somewhat, but I need more help. I have my own business and can't be taking something that dulls my senses or makes my thinking unclear. I did go to Mayo for the trial studies of the Calmare treatment. That didn't help my particular case at all. And on a sidenote, has anyone tried the enbrel injections at the base of the skull? did that help at all?

Hi @catcat,
Several members are talking on Connect about nerve pain, but not specifically thalamic nerve pain or central pain syndrome after stroke.

I'm tagging members @tiredofpain, @audrapopp, @Jackiewizardof, @leh09, @excentrk and @buffaloriver as they may have more input on pain management and enbrel injections.
