Suzetrigine - a novel drug for pain
ok...So here's what I know and what I think is true. This drug was FDA fast tracked. The results of the phase 3 clinical trial for acute pain were very good. It was on track to be approved on 1/30/25 but due to an executive order regarding FDA communications it is not clear if the FDA will be allowed to release the approval or not.

Vertex completed a phase 2 study and the results were inconclusive due to poor study design. After reviewing the results it is my opinion if a better designed phase 3 is approved the results will be similar to the study for acute pain. This is the first new non-opioid pain medicine in 20 years.
Once it is approved I plan on insisting my doctor writes an off label script so I can try it even though my pain, like your's is chronic. The side effect profile is excellent..i.e. there were actually MORE side effects in the placebo arm of the study... doesn't get better than that.
That being said, there is no information on the side effects for chronic pain, which would require long term use but after reviewing the research i will take a chance.
I am not sure about how the medicare coverage will work, but once it is approved I will look into it and share with you here. I think they may have to pay for it if your doctor writes a script off label or not.

This has the potential for being a game changer so I think we need to educate our doctors and do
our own research.
Please let me know if I can provide links to more information that might help you.

Gaba is a wildcard - works for some not for others. We categorize it as “scary brain candy” . Read ALL the side effects. Be prepared for sudden uncontrolled narcolepsy, (esp while driving or eating ie “face in soup” ) extreme mood and personality changes, bizarre realistic halucinations, etc. and for us, no pain relief at all. Then trying to get off it and no idea how long to get the brain back to normal.
The current “opiod scare” is driving the medical community to try any new brain candy, as opposed to basic rx that has worked safely for decades when used as directed and monitored. The current “scare” is the result of a flawed 10 year old “data study” that included alcoholics, street drug users, and people using without prescriptions. One expects increase in morbidity under those circumstances. Unfortunately the many millions of legitamite patients are suffering instead. Look up “unintended consequences”. The people driving this stuff have no idea what crippling chronic pain is like, and no compassion for sufferers whatsoever.
We are looking into this new rx as well, but are awaiting the results from actual sufferers in this forum thread.
I cannot figure out how to send a message to the moderator....if someone knows please advise. thanks in advance.
There is a Journavx coupon on the Vertex site. It is good for 60 days if your insurance will not cover it. There is also assistance for those who do not have insurance. I use GoodRx all the time but it will not help with this medication.
Thought it was approved mid march

Thanks.
I purchased a monthly dosage of Journavx(60 tablets) and the co-pay was a little over $350. I do not like the side effects and so I am willing to give all the pills away to the first person that represents that the cost to obtain Journavx is an issue. I took 3 pills so there are 57 left. You may text or call me to verify at (305) 588-1141.
