I am havinh problem of reading with bifocal glasses.

I am unable to read with bifocal glasses. I have to use near vision glasses for reading. It is due to the fact that one eye has central focused vision while another has the same slightly upper side. This happened recently. Doctor told that some nerve is damaged, but it has no remedy. Any suggestion?
