hypogammaglobulinemia and specific antibody deficiency in kids

Posted by tb41212 @tb41212, Mar 27 7:50am

My son was recently diagnosed with specific antibody deficiency and hypogammaglobulinemia. He is 7 and this has been going on since he was 5. He was also diagnosed with collagenous gastritis. Im just trying to get more information from actual people instead of doctors to help with all of this since it’s a lot and a lot I don’t understand. Please help a mama out

@tb41212. Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! I’m so glad that you found this site There are several discussions about collagenous gastris in the Digestive Health group , but I entered the discussion about kids

Has your son needed to change his entire diet and how does that impact you and your family?
I can understand why this has been a burden. My son had a similar problem when he was about 9. I didn’t need to change his diet, but, boy, those were tough years. He had behavior problems at the same time. Now, he’s 54 yrs old and a very nice, successful person.
