Interested in folks who had 30 doses ( 60 gray’s) versus 35 doses ( 70 gray’s) ofradiation. Did you get DNA levels, How long post treatment are you. How long before eating solid food again?

I TORS for base of tongue tumor. Also neck dissection. 2/25 lymph nodes positive. Primary tumor had clean margins. 60 GY on the positive side of neck. 54 Gy on the other side. Also 60 Gy to tumor bed inside throat. I had Proton instead of Photon radiation. I feel Proton is much more targeted with less side future sides effects. I have read alot about deescalation treatment with early stage SCC throat cancer. I think the trend is going that way. However, Your team of doctors probably know your best treatment options. It is a tough battle for several months but you will get through it. I was eating solid creamy foods within 3 months and Eating about normal within a year. I had 3 NavDx blood tests which showed 0 over 6 months. Those extra 5 Gy doses at 35 pack a punch. Good luck and have Faith.

I'm not familiar with the terms but I had an "aggressive" treatment of 30 radiation and 3 chemo treatments. I had some teeth issues afterwards. 3 years after the treatments, my jaw will not heal from the tooth being pulled about 10 months ago. My jaw has actually fractured. I have ORN surgery set for August 18 to replace my jaw with parts from my leg. This has been very painful.
I also have read a lot about de-escalation treatment lately. If I had know then, I would have pushed for the lesser aggressive due to the side effects. God bless.
