How was your recovery from a spacer change
I was just wondering what everyone’s experience with their recovery had been and what it felt like along the way. When did it feel normal I’m 23 months po from tkr and just had a spacer change on it from a 7 mm to 14 mm 2 weeks ago. I was unstable and hyperextended for that whole time as previous surgeon put the wrong size in. Anyway it does get stiff below the knee cap area and what seems like muscle weakness according to the therapist in the medial knee area as it feels strained when trying to get up. Standing in one place for too long also is a challenge. It does feel stable no hyperextending but still feels wonky when I’m in certain positions such as trying to bend the knee or sometimes when walking just feels weird. There is some fluid in the knee and swelling which doctor says should dissipate and not sure this is contributing to my discomfort. I’ve been through so much between these two knees the past two years I just want this nightmare to be over. Maybe I’m expecting miracles right away and being inpatient. My second knee replacement done in December by new surgeon doing robotic went very well, it was then I knew what a successful knee replacement was . it’s been this first knee which has been a nightmare from day 1. I just wasn’t expecting the wonky feeling when I walk at times

How long was your recovery ? Were you able to walk right away?
Yes I could walk right away. I’m almost 3 weeks po. It’s just feels uncomfortable almost like before I had it done the familiar stiffness below knee cap area and laterally near it band. I have already had home pt for two weeks and doing daily exercise. Now just waiting for insurance approval so I can start my second session at outside pt. Just feeling discouraged. I’m hoping it’s just vmo muscle weakness like my home therapist mentioned but it’s so nerve racking.
