How do i talk to my doctor about bad anxiety?
How do I talk to my doctor about bad anxiety?? Im unable to drive certain places or do certain things alone and it's been effecting my work and relationship. I don't have many friends nor hang out with them cuz I have anxiety so bad . I get an uncontrolled nervous fèeling when it comes to doing anything alone like going to grocery store without my bf or going to the beach alone . I have taken some benzodiazepams in past that have worked good controlling those nervous thoughts but how do I convince my doctor that I want to try those types of meds again? Now that I'm only on birth control and ssri, I'd like to try benzos again. I feel lost and don't know how to talk to my doctor. Any help is appreciated!

Are you seeing a psychologist and have you tried seeing a psychiatrist for medication support of your anxiety? That would work better than just your primary doctor. Many primary doctors aren’t experienced managing mental health conditions and different medications.
So you have anxiety when alone or with a company of friends? Insecurities maybe? Did something bad happen to you to make you feel this way? Has it always been like this? Interacting with people especially those you know like work and friends may help you. I find comfort in familiarity of day to day existence. I get anxiety whenever it’s new. People. Places. Situations. But it’s not so overwhelming that I need meds. It’s just stressful and I tend to either deal with it or become antisocial. I’m married so my wife helps. She knows about this anxiety. Supports me.
Thank you. I am going to keep this short, as I just got off a televisit with my Dr. C, and have some notes I need to make at 75. I suggest you tell your doctor what is going on NOW. Make an appointment either physically or electronically and just tell him or her what you just posted. You don't have to know the medical language. Drs. are on YOUR payroll. If you do not trust them, do not want to do what they suggest, etc. find someone new, and FIRE the old. Only YOU can control what your body needs and does. Sooooo listen to it. PLEASE. I am NOT a medical person, however, I do want to live whatever I have left in comfort and peace. Life is WAY tooo short and fragile my friend. With Kind Regards. Will probably need to stay on the clonazepam low dose .05 mg a day till the day I leave this earth.
@pietyash85 I would have to agree with @dlydailyhope about getting help from a psychologist. Some physicians are just not very good at talking to their patients about mental health. My physician manages my medications, and my therapist does my counseling.
I would tell your physician what's going on. Again, if you have not already done so, looking into seeing a therapist. I am glad I did.
I told my primary I was having a lot of anxiety. It was likely due to some medical issues and circumstances at the time. He prescribed me meds, but I felt talk therapy would be beneficial and went that route. I found the therapist by looking in my health insurance in network portal. The practice found the the right therapist for me and it was very helpful. It brought a huge improvement with my anxiety. Best of luck with getting the treatment you need. Your doctor is there to help you. Asking for help is a positive thing. Just say how you feel.
